Our School Incursion Activities
Virtual Reality
Our DreamLeaders guide students through a presentation on safely using high-tech VR equipment and explain the basic engineering concepts that make the technology work.
Senior students will learn how VR is utilised across various professional industries to assist others and address problems. They will then have the opportunity to explore an interactive virtual world, applying their newly acquired skills.
Junior students explore a virtual colouring world, using their developing language skills to describe the things they see using relative location. Students are encouraged to discuss their colour choices and associated feelings.
Group discussions will focus on safety, confidence, and setting up rules for engaging in the virtual world. Each student will explore and interact with their own VR headset, discovering the possibilities of virtual reality for the future.
Neonatal Nurse
Students will identify traits of good caregivers (caring, patience, persistence, empathy, resilience) and relate these to their community. Using high-tech infant simulators, they will learn to hold, rock, settle, and feed a baby. They will also measure and record their baby’s weight and length.
This hands-on experience helps students practice caregiving skills, solve simple problems, and communicate personal strengths. The session encourages positive choices and outcomes, acknowledging the importance of family, friends, and school dynamics.
Electronic Engineer
Our DreamLeaders will guide students to create electronic circuits using our custom built high-tech equipment. They will learn about forces, light, sound, and the differences between open and closed circuits.
Students will explore conductors and insulators and follow industry-standard diagrams, connecting engineering principles to everyday life. The session includes discussions on environmental and sustainability factors, using customised rechargeable batteries to minimise impact.
Sports Scientist
Students will engage in high-tech physical activities to test agility, reaction time, accuracy, and power. They will learn how digital technologies assist in accurate data collection for athlete performance analysis.
Students will record personal performance data, identify patterns, and make scientific predictions. The session promotes fair and inclusive play, encourages a ‘have a go’ attitude, and ensures students have fun.
Robotic Engineer
Our DreamLeaders will guide students in creating robotic pathways using Sphero RVR Robots and Samsung tablets. They will learn about digital systems and patterns, using Sphero Edu software for Draw Coding and Block Coding (JavaScript).
Students will program movement, sound, and light instructions for their robots, demonstrating communication through coding and understanding its real-life applications.
DreamLeaders will challenge senior students to enhance their coding skills by developing sequenced algorithms to solve design challenges. As the students progress they are rewarded by unlocking additional abilities for their robots.
